Roll Away Covers
Overview
A rollaway cover is a practical solution for keeping operations safe from flying debris in an industrial setting. These covers roll back smoothly when access to the machine is needed and can be retracted back to it’s position easily. This mechanism makes it a convenient addition to any manufacturing facility.
Depending on your needs, rollaway covers can be manufactured from vinyl, Kevlar, or stainless steel. Each material has its own advantages so you can choose the material that best fits your needs.
Rollaway covers work well across a wide range of industrial settings. They are a great fit for applications that require a large area to be covered, as well as situations where space is tight and there is little room to mount a guard. Compared to a traditional bellows style guard, rollaway covers take up less space since bellows guards have convultions that add to their overall footprint.
Rollaway covers can also be a more affordable option. Bellows guards that span wide openings require extra stitching and material which usually raises the cost making the rollaway covers the smarter choice for many applications.
Benefits of The Roll Away Cover
The key benefit of the roll away cover is the fact that it can cover a lot of space for a fraction of the cost of a traditional bellows. Other benefits include:
- Ideal for high-speed applications
- Takes up very little space
- Perfect for one-sided guards
- Very easy to install
- Can withstand high temperatures
How the Roller Cover Works
The roll away cover works much like a traditional roller shade would work that is in your house. The assembly consists of a roller pin which has an industrial spring inside of it. This spring keeps tension on the curtain material and prevents the curtain from sagging. The guard has two mounting locations. One is located on the roller assembly, and the other mounting location is located at the end of the curtain material. At both of these locations you bolt the guard to the machine, or the floor.
The roll away cover can be mounted in a horizontal or vertical position. You can install the cover anywhere and just about in any space. Since the roller assembly takes up the slack of the curtain material, there is no worry that the curtain will sag.
