Clear retractable barriers guard a work cell while operators keep a clear view of what is happening inside it. The see-through shade pulls out by hand and retracts into the roller base, so it takes far less space than big, rigid floor guards. Like an old-style window shade turned on its side, the shade stays under constant tension, which makes it easy to pull out and roll back.

How It Works
Spring tension in the roller base keeps the shade tight. The operator walks it across the work cell and hooks it to the opposite side.
To move material in or out, unlatch the shade and walk it back to the roller base. It retracts on its own and stores rolled up.
No overhead suspension is needed, so overhead cranes have a clear path into the cell when the shade is rolled up.

Are the clear shades replaceable?
Yes. If a clear shade is damaged, contact AKON and we will send a replacement shade with directions.
How do the shades attach to the opposite post or wall?
Each shade has an aluminum bar that is held by two J-hooks, using the shade's own tension. The hooks attach to an adjacent post or to any existing structure, such as a wall or steel column.
Can the shade be interlocked so the machine will not start until it is pulled shut?
Yes, this is a common retrofit. Your controls company or maintenance team can add safety interlocks or proximity switches on site. We do not supply the electronic devices.
