These roll-up way covers, also called roll-way covers, are widely used to protect slide and guide ways from dust, chips, and swarf. The covers can be mounted in a vertical or horizontal position, depending on the application. They are most commonly used for cross slide and vertical slide guarding in CNC machines. They are an ideal method for protecting machines that do not require the complete seal of a bellows cover.

Roller Models
HEAVY DUTY
The most commonly installed roller guard AKON supplies. Designed for at least 500,000 cycles and featuring a robust fabrication. Commonly used by OEM's and manufacturing plants for all types of guarding. Also ideal for tight spaces when using the 1" roller tube.

SUPER DUTY
Rated for at least 1,000,000 cycles this industrial roller guard is designed for applications where high speeds and frequent to non-stop cycling is present. Commonly used with automation and robotic work cell operations that are in constant motion.

Optional Features
High Temp Shades
Standard material is 18oz vinyl. However, for any environment hotter than 140 degrees Fahrenheit we use materials that can withstand the higher temperatures. Ratings of up to 1200°F.
Shade Wiper
With the use of the shade sweep wiper, you can keep the CNC swarf out of the roller. The sweep is in constant contact with the shade and keeps the internal roller assembly clean.
Shade Placement
If you require a very long extension then we might have to use a roller that is wider than the shade to accommodate the internal spring. If this is necessary, we can offset the shade anywhere on the roller as shown here.
Steel Case
The steel case surrounds the roller and protects it from debris and accidental contact with other objects that might damage it. This can also feature a brush wiper. Please note that this triples the cost of the unit.
Shade Mounts
The most common end of shade mount is a pocket with a flat steel bar that you bolt to your machine. Other styles are shown above. These are only available on the heavy and super duty models.
VINYL
Overview: The standard material we quote for industrial roll up guards. Used in the vast majority of applications as it is very strong and reinforced with a polyester scrim. The most economical and ideal material unless you have high heat or a high abrasion environment.

NEOPRENE
Overview: A step up from Vinyl is the neoprene line of shades. This material provides excellent tear strength and superior resistance to abrasion. It also has a higher heat rating at 212° F
